Tom Child

Tom Child is Deputy Director for Global Science and Innovation in the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Most recently Tom held the post of Minister Counsellor for Prosperity in the British Embassy, Beijing. He led teams across China spanning Science and Innovation, Provincial Cities Engagement and Communications.

Tom joined the Civil Service in 2005, initially with the Department for Trade and Industry, and has worked in policy and delivery across a range of sectors including financial services, steel, higher education and energy. He holds a degree in politics from the University of Nottingham School of Politics and International Relations.
